If you ever had a question about the Knights of Columbus or the history of St. Joseph Parish or any of its buildings, all you had to do is ask Ron Smith. Ron was a family man, a devoted husband, and a born leader, who took time to get involved, heading many committees for St. Joseph Parish over his lifetime. In the Knights, Ron joined Hanover Council 871 in 1955 and in 1959 became a charter member of the Fr. Cyril J. Allwein Fourth Degree Assembly 944. As an Honorary Life Member of our council, Ron also held many titles including Past Grand Knight of Council 871, Past Faithful Navigator of the Assembly 944, and Former Master of the Pennsylvania District Fourth Degree,

Aug 12 2019 Sir Knight Earl Hertz
Many of you knew Earl Hertz who passed away recently at age 91. Earl belonged to St. Joseph Parish his entire life, was a kind husband and father of 8 who was loved by all and dedicated his entire life to serving others. Earl joined Hanover K of C Council 871 as soon as he turned 18 in 1946, then took his Second and Third Degrees that same year, and was an active member of Hanover Council 871 for a total of 73 years!!! He was also awarded Honorary Life Member and served in the Fr. Cyril J. Allwein Assembly 4th Degree Color Corps. WOW!!! Along with the Knights, Earl was quite active in St. Joseph’s Scouting program for over 50 years and received their Lifetime Service Award. Earl was also active in St. Joseph’s Holy Name Society, RCIA, Bereavement Committee, Lenten Appeal, Delone Catholic PTA, VFW & American Legion. What a role model! In closing, Earl, Well Done Faithful Servant! We will truly miss you!!!

1946-2017 Bob was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served several tours off the coast of Vietnam. He was a devoted husband to Carol and to his children. He was active in Council 871 in addition to President of the HNS & the Parish Council. Bob was also a member of the Fun(d) & other organizations. Bob will be missed but never forgotten.
