The Undefeated Courage Mobile Ultrasound unit which Council #871 has contributed to for the last two years is currently in Pennsylvania
being prepared for operation. The van will have a graphic “wrap” applied on the outside of the van during the last two weeks of June. The ultrasound has been installed in the van as well as 3 monitors for viewing the ultrasound. Becky Biter, coordinator for the project, plans to have the van fully operational and traveling around South Central Pennsylvania during July. At the Council 871 meeting held April 9, 2019, Dan Mlinek presented a check for $2500 to Becky and Shawn Biter, Directors of Undefeated Courage,
South-Central Pennsylvania. The donation will help fund a mobile ultrasound unit that will travel among the Planned Parenthood facility locations in South-Central Pennsylvania. Women who board the mobile unit will receive prayerful support, counseling, abortion pill reversal information, free pregnancy testing, and limited ultrasounds. The women will leave with an action plan connecting them with a pregnancy resource center or medical facility to continue their care. The target date to have the mobile unit on the road is summer of 2019. Marc and Hope Heppding are members of St. Joseph's Parish in Hanover,

Marc is currently assisting our parish by working on support and documentation of St. Joseph's parish cemetery. Hope has been involved in bible study sessions as a participant and a facilitator, she has volunteered her time in the past for food banks for the poor, and the St.Vincent De Paul society. Marc felt after his retirement from MedStar Health that he wanted to give more of his time to serve others. He felt the Knights was the right fit for him. We are fortunate to have him as a fellow Brother of our council. The Catholic faith is a major part of Mark and Hope's life. They have three sons who are now in their 30’s - Eric, Kevin and Marc, Jr. The Heppding Family is a fine example for our Council and Parish, and most deserving of this award. |
